Introduction

Forget canned cherries! Use fresh cherries in-season to make this delicious summer dessert.

Ingredients

Filling:
4 cups cherries, rinsed and pitted
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Crust:
2 store-bought or homemade pie crusts

Star-shaped cookie cutter

Directions

1. Place bottom crust in pie pan.

2. Mix ingredients for filling and add to pan.

3. Use star cookie cutter to cut out several stars out of top crust. Place stars on top of pie filling. Use fewer stars to save calories and carbs. (Note: nutrition facts are based on eating the full top pie crust.) Flute the edges of the top crust.

4. Brush top crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

5. Bake at 425*F for 25 minutes. Reduce heat
to 350*F and bake for 25-30 minutes more.
