Introduction

My grandma made this cake often when I was growing up. It is delicious!

Ingredients

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon soda

Directions

Sift together into mixing bowl: 2 cups flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp salt. Sift sugar and add to dry ingredients with the shortening. Mix until pea size. Remove 1 cup of above mixture and set aside for topping. To the rest add 1/2 cup flour, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1 tsp soda. Beat with rotary beater until smooth. Pour into 9"" x 13"" pan. Put 1 cup reserved crumb mixture on
top (may add nuts). Bake @ 350 for 35 minutes.
